AWARD-WINNING attraction Wistow Maze has revealed this year’s design.

The theme of the 2018 maze is the NHS and the design chosen to represent it is an ambulance.

The NHS, which this year celebrates its 70th anniversary, was chosen after the attraction ran a competition, inviting members of the public to come up with ideas.

“I thought it was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of one of the nation’s most loved institutions and to show our appreciation for the many heroes in the health and emergency services,” said Diana Brooks, owner of Wistow Maze.

Keeping with the health theme, the fun quiz trail hidden among the three miles of pathways will have a first aid focus, which will test visi- tors’ knowledge of how to treat a casualty.

Each year, the maze is redesigned using GPS satellite technology.

First, the eight-acre field is filled with a maize and sunflower crop.

Then, using specialist GPS equipment, which is accurate to within 10cm, the pathways are marked with painted lines.

Once the maize crop has grown a few inches, the maize within the painted lines are sprayed out, which creates the shape.

The attraction also includes an activity yard with mini mazes and games for families.

Wistow Maze will be open from Friday, July 20, until Sunday, September 2, seven days a week, then weekends only until Sunday, September 23.

It costs £6.96 for an adult, £5.95 for a child (13 and under) and under-twos get free entry.

A family ticket is £24. There is free parking.
