Family theme park wins top award

-

GEORGE Bryan, company director of family owned and run theme park, Drayton Manor Park, has been awarded the prestigious EY Family Business Award of Excellence at Birmingham Town Hall.

First introduced in 2012, the EY Family Business Award of Excellence is awarded annually to recognise leaders of outstanding entrepreneurial families across the world. This year, George Bryan was selected as the Midlands’ recipient due to his and his family’s hard work and dedication to the Staffordshire-based attraction.

The park, still run by the third generation of the founding Bryan family, was originally home to former British Prime Minister, Sir Robert Peel, before being transformed into the Drayton Manor Theme Park that families across the country know and love.

George Bryan, company director, commented: “I am incredibly honoured that Drayton Manor has won such a highly regarded award.

“At the core of the Drayton Manor ethos is family, and we have worked tirelessly for almost seven decades to provide the best experience possible for family days out, and that’s why this award means the world.

“When the park first opened, it consisted of a small restaurant, tea room and three handoperated rides. Today it’s home to Europe’s only Thomas Land™, a 15-acre zoo, 4D cinema and a whole host of rides – something that is a testament to the commitment my family has made.”
