Police warning after increase in break-ins in rural areas

-

A SPATE of burglaries has led to police issuing a warning.

Police said there had been an increase in break-ins in Sheepy Magna, Desford, Ratby and Stanton Under Bardon.

A property in Sheepy Magna was targeted in the middle of the day on August 2, with washing up liquid squirted all over the house in an effort to minimise the suspects’ forensic footprint.

Cash and jewellery was the target.

On the same day some £600 was taken form various charity boxes, wage packets and petty cash tins from a property in Stanton Under Bardon, at some point from midnight to 6am on August 2.

An elderly man confronted two suspects in his house in Ratby just after 6pm on August 4, who pushed him aside and ran off without taking anything.

The suspects entered via an insecure patio door.

In Desford on the same day, two men were seen running from a property at around 4.45am with torches.

Wellsborough was also targeted overnight between August 3 and 4, where a garden shed was broked into and a Stihl Chain- saw and a Makita Strimmer were taken.

Market Bosworth Police said in a post on its Facebook page: “Please bear this information in mind and consider basic and easy security measures.”

If you have any information about the incident, call 101.
