Age UK physiotherapy-led exercise group to start up
A physiotherapist led exercise group supported by Age UK Leicestershire and Rutland, is to open its doors to the public on Thursday August 30. The Re-Phit Group, which meets every Thursday from 10 am to 11.45 am at St. Francis Community Centre, Tudor Road, Hinckley is led by Physiotherapist, Amanda Mohar.
She is a qualified Postural Stability Instructor and Specialist Physiotherapist (Health Care Professions Council registered) and leads a friendly group of people in routines specifically tailored to their needs and abilities rather than delivering a ‘one size fits all’ physical exercise class.
Another way in which the RePhit group differs from most other mainstream exercise classes, is that it is suitable for people with long term chronic conditions such as arthritis, MS, Parkinson’s or a stroke, as well as those who have experienced a fall.
But exercise is not the only thing on offer at the group.
The mid morning break for tea and biscuits is always welcomed as an opportunity to chat and relax with new friends before continuing with exercise.
Pat, who attends the weekly sessions, says: “It is fantastic and I love it. I have made loads of new friends. I am now getting up and down much better and managing to do the exercises Amanda has given me”
If you are interested in joining Amanda’s group, just give her a call on 07967 237946.
