Search is on to find good cause worthy of £10,000

-

A COMMUNITY scheme launched 18 years ago to mark the birth of the Heart of England Co-operative Society as we know it today has raised a fantastic £1 million for local charities and worthy causes.

And our readers are being asked to nominate their favourite local charities or worthy causes to receive a £10,000 boost from the Heart of England Co-operative Society.

To celebrate its fantastic £1 million milestone, the society has set aside £10,000 of Helping Hearts funds for a one off donation for a local organisation which works to improve the lives or quality of life for residents in the local community.

Whether to pay for a new service or facility, complete a specific project or renovation, or to buy new equipment, nominations must be for registered charities, voluntary organisations or non-profit organisations within the Society’s trading area of Coventry, Warwickshire, south Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

All nominations will be con- sidered by the society and a final winner will be announced in August

Ali Kurji, Chief Executive of the Heart of England Co-operative Society, said: “The more applications we have received over the past 18 years, the more we have learned just how many unsung heroes there are in this area who work so selflessly every day to help people in their community.

“The £1 million milestone, which coincides with the 18th anniversary since the launch of Helping Hearts gives us the perfect excuse for us to share a little extra this year.

“Ideally we are looking for applications to support, in the region of £10,000, so we can fund a project or facility in its entirety.

“£10,000 can make a huge difference to a charity or nonprofit organisation so we would urge readers to get their thinking caps and to come to us with ideas.”

To enter your nomination contact Jo Dyke, Community and Membership Adviser, on jo.dyke@heartofengland-coop. co.uk or call Jo on 024 7638 2331.

All entries must be received before Friday, August 24th 2018.

Now in its 16th year, the Market Bosworth Festival is a hugely popular event attracting thousands of visitors every summer.

Set in various locations around the village, the 16-day event – taking place this year from June 9th to 24th – is put together by a group of volunteers with a passion for the arts. It celebrates all aspects of the arts, including music, film, theatre, literature, visual arts and crafts.

Every year the festival culminates with The Big Weekend. Aimed at younger visitors, attractions at The Big Weekend include a children’s festival, circus skills, arts and crafts and drumming.

The Heart of England Cooperative Society has supported The Big Weekend for the past 10 years, donating money from the Helping Hearts Awards Scheme towards general funds.
