Blaby council launches search for someone special
CELEBRATING its fifteenth year, nominations are now open for residents to nominate inspirational people and groups across the district.
The council is once again encouraging friends, family and workmates to nominate individuals and groups who they think deserve recognition for making a difference in their community before midnight on Sunday August 12 2018, in one of four categories:
Good Friend/Good Neighbour – Sponsored by Countryside Properties
Volunteer of the Year – Sponsored by Leicester Marriott Hotel
Young Achiever of the Year – Sponsored by Ford & Slater
Best Community Group/ Achievement – Sponsored by Fosse
Finalists and their guests will be invited to the prestigious cer- emony, sponsored by Davidsons Homes, at the Marriott Hotel on Thursday October 4. The evening will celebrate and honour the finalists. £750 of prize money will be available in each category.
Councillor Terry Richardson, Leader of Blaby District Council, said: “To be marking our fifteenth year highlights how well regarded the Achievement Awards are across the district. It’s our chance to honour inspirational people who have contributed to making this district great.
“We are proud to welcome Davidsons Homes back as our main sponsor of the night, as well as thanking all of our returning sponsors. I encourage everyone to nominate the person or group they think deserves to be recognised.”
The Achievement Awards are funded entirely with the gener- osity of sponsors. New main sponsors Davidsons Homes will be sponsoring the awards presentation evening; Countryside Properties, Fosse, Ford & Slater and Leicester Marriott Hotel returning as category sponsors.
