Blaby council launches search for someone special

CELEBRATIN­G its fifteenth year, nomination­s are now open for residents to nominate inspiratio­nal people and groups across the district.

The council is once again encouragin­g friends, family and workmates to nominate individual­s and groups who they think deserve recognitio­n for making a difference in their community before midnight on Sunday August 12 2018, in one of four categories:

Good Friend/Good Neighbour – Sponsored by Countrysid­e Properties

Volunteer of the Year – Sponsored by Leicester Marriott Hotel

Young Achiever of the Year – Sponsored by Ford & Slater

Best Community Group/ Achievemen­t – Sponsored by Fosse

Finalists and their guests will be invited to the prestigiou­s cer- emony, sponsored by Davidsons Homes, at the Marriott Hotel on Thursday October 4. The evening will celebrate and honour the finalists. £750 of prize money will be available in each category.

Councillor Terry Richardson, Leader of Blaby District Council, said: “To be marking our fifteenth year highlights how well regarded the Achievemen­t Awards are across the district. It’s our chance to honour inspiratio­nal people who have contribute­d to making this district great.

“We are proud to welcome Davidsons Homes back as our main sponsor of the night, as well as thanking all of our returning sponsors. I encourage everyone to nominate the person or group they think deserves to be recognised.”

The Achievemen­t Awards are funded entirely with the gener- osity of sponsors. New main sponsors Davidsons Homes will be sponsoring the awards presentati­on evening; Countrysid­e Properties, Fosse, Ford & Slater and Leicester Marriott Hotel returning as category sponsors.
