Student is given a gold award by her university
A STUDENT has received an award in recognition of her voluntary work efforts and extra-curricular activities.
Rebecca Marks, of Burbage, successfully achieved a Gold Worcester Award from the University of Worcester, where she was recognised for her participation in a range of activities alongside her academic studies.
Rebecca’s volunteering efforts included her role on the cheerleading committee, childminding, where she looked after children who ranged from six-months to sixyears-old, and in retail as a sales assistant.
The 21-year-old, former pupil of King Edward VI College in Nuneaton, said: “I feel so proud of myself to have achieved Gold, I could not be happier.
“I have gained key skills in event organisation which will help me in the future when organising events and creating a fun and safe atmosphere.
“Being part of the committee for the Worcester Sinners Cheerleading Compeitive squad has been so special for me and after my second year of being part of the squad, we have achieved five National titles by coming first place throughout the seasons.”
This year, more than 800 students registered for the award, with 265 of those completing the course, 130 of which achieved Gold.
Ross Renton, Pro Vice Chancellor for Students at the University, said: “We are delighted that so many students have achieved the Worcester award this year.
“The range of additional and voluntary activities will greatly enhance their future employability.”
