IT WAS a double record-breaking performanc­e by Ian Stripp when Lutterwort­h Angling Club visited Friezeland Lakes at Market Bosworth.

Ian became the first angler to win five Lutterwort­h matches on the trot when he weighed in a massive 296lb 11oz catch of carp, which is also a new match record weight for the club.

Runner-up Martin Lemberg would have won most matches, with his 225lb 15oz catch.

Darryl Moore finished third with 172lb 4oz in a match where the top seven anglers all weighed over 100lb.

It’s been a good weekend for Hinckley’s Ashby Canal legend Doug Dimbleby.

On Saturday he won the first round of the Pete Hogg Memorial series fished on the Globe length of the canal at Snarestone.

Doug weighed 5lb 7oz of small bream to finish well clear of Graham Whyte with 2lb 3oz with Dave Wileman finishing third with 2lb 1oz.

Then on Sunday Doug won Measham’s Away day contest on the Coventry canal at Alvercote.

One small bream and some roach gave him a winning 3lb 6oz.

Phil Hicks weighed 2lb 10oz for second with Hubert Noar finishing third with 2lb 6oz.

Darren Milne won the final match in Higham Lane’s Wednesday evening series.

Drawn on peg 21 he weighed an impressive 91lb 11oz.

Hinckley tackle dealer Dominic Carino finished second from peg 13 with 86lb 9oz while Lee Farmer finished third with 83lb 7oz.

With the rain freshening things up, Maynes Lakes’ midweek Open again produced some good sport.

Fishing paste in the deeper water down the middle produced a winning 47lb 6oz catch for Karl Downing.

There was another masterly display by Andy Findlay as he won another Lychgate Fisheries Wednesday Open.

Drawn on peg 52 Andy used floating bread to land 146lb 2oz.

Ian Shirley had struggled for most of the match but a hectic last 90 minutes saw him catch over 100lb, to finish second with 113lb 7oz.

Glyn Davies came third with 79lb 10oz.

Thursday’s Higham Lane Open was won by the amazing Andy Findlay, who used method feeder tactics on peg 21 to catch 114lb. Dave Massey weighed 88lb 10oz to take second place with Darren Milne finishing third with a 77lb 9oz catch.

Brookfield­s Open match at Stoke Golding was won by Danny Ross with a 36lb 10oz catch.

Alby Biehl came second with 20lb 10oz while Stu Campton finished third with18lb 5oz.

Saturday’s Summer League contest at Higham Lane was won by Dennis Beacham with a 88lb 9oz catch from peg 11.

Dean Hughes came second with 79lb 6oz while Dominic Carino finished third with 76lb 10oz.

Lychgate Fisheries return contest against Lincolshir­e’s Rushfield’s Fisheries resulted in Andy Findlay’s third win in five day’s.

Drawn on peg 38 “The Fin” pole fished floating bread to catch 161lb 4oz.

Paul Spitlehous­e finished second a long way behind with 84lb 1oz while Terry Brindley weighed 63lb 4oz to take third place.

Overall local knowledge paid off as Lychgate took the team honours.

Higham Lane have an Open match every Thursday, draw at 9am.

The Second Round of the Pete Hogg Memorial Series takes place this Saturday, draw 1pm at the Rising Sun.

Lychgate Fisheries have Open matches every Saturday, draw at 9.15am and Sunday, draw at noon.

Shackersto­ne hold their Members Don MacIntyre Memorial contest this Sunday, draw at 7.45am at the Rising Sun.

Lychgate Fisheries have an Open match every Wednesday, draw at 9am.
