Thigh-slapping German night in store at hotel

-

A night of thigh-slapping, German beer and celebrations is on offer at a Hinckley hotel this October.

Guests to the Sketchley Grange Hotel’s Oompah Oktoberfest will be able to enjoy the rich cuisine of kaisersized hunks of meat alongside mountains of sauerkraut and knodels.

Accompanied by a local Oompah band, you will be partying like the a true Bavarian, when the celebration goes into full swing.

On attending the event, men are encouraged to dress in the traditional knee-length breeches while women in the classic Dirndl costume.

Paul Noble, general manager at the popular hotel, said: “Tradition dictates that Oktoberfest is all about toasting to cheer and good times, and that is exactly what we’ll be doing here on October 27.

“The oompah sound is a fantastic way to get the party going with a swing while any thigh-slapping, although encouraged, will be entirely voluntary!

“It will really be a case of oans, zwoa, drei, g’suffa or as we say in Hinckley, one, two, three, bottoms up.

“We would advise booking early as these events are popular and we wouldn’t want anyone who wants to try out their hand at the traditional schuhplattler folk dance to miss out.”

To secure your place at the Bavarian celebration, tickets must be booked in advance, costing £34.95 per person.

Tickets can be purchased over the phone on 01455 251133, and more information can be found at http://sketchleygrangehotel.co.uk/Events/Oktoberfest.
