Appeal for help from charity store for goods

-

AGE UK Leicestershire and Rutland is extending its range of items on sale at its Hinckley store to include children’s items such as equipment, clothes, toys and games.

The shop is based on Castle Street in the town.

Anthony Donovan, Executive Director at Age UK, believes that extending the range of goods being sold in the local shop, will generate additional monies that will be used to keep essential local services operating, because he says, funding cuts have decimated services to frail older people.

Anthony said: “Increasing numbers of people have visited the shop in recent months wanting to buy children’s goods but unfortunately we have struggled to meet demand.

“To address this we have put a county wide appeal out for stock all of which will be taken to the Hinckley shop.

“Our hope is it will include everything that people are looking for – children’s item all being sold at bargain prices.”

All money raised through sales will be ring fenced for the Hinckley area and used to assist with meeting the cost of services for supporting vulnerable older people.

The store is also looking for donations of goods which can be taken directly to the shops, or collected if a large amount is required.

An arrangement for goods to be collected can be made by calling 01455 234466.
