Escape Room test for a good cause
PROBLEM solvers who work well under pressure can put their skills to the test with a fun challenge in the town centre.
An Escape Room has been set up at The New Plough Inn on Leicester Road, an interactive team game where two to six friends must work out how to get out of a sticky situation before time runs out.
The hour-long game was created by software developer Rob Smith, from Hinckley to raise funds for The Big Issue Foundation.
Players are taken into a futuristic research facility when the self destruct system activates, leaving them 60 minutes to disarm the system and get out.
Rob said: “If you like a bit of team work with your friends and you fancy a bit of a challenge, this will be great fun.”
Participants who get stuck can ask for a clue, but at the cost of a time penalty.
Rob said that the combinations and solutions can be surprisingly simple, with more intellectual teams that have taken on the challenge struggling to move forward while the answer is right in front of them.
He said: “People have been such good sports when they come out.
“They always have great fun and they don’t mind whether they have won or lost.”
He and his husband Chris Jordan will also be running the London Marathon next year in aid of the good cause.
If the escape room proves to be a success, they are looking at setting up a permanent challenge
The challenge costs £10 per player and you can make an extra donation too on the day.
