Bad smell hangs over Westminster
THERE is a faint bad smell hanging over the Palace of Westminster these days as our politicians relieve themselves over public opinion, with members having delusions of adequacy. It is no longer in vogue to bat for the home side - rather mislead and go native on us in every aspect.
From Brexit to foreign aid, human rights (not our rights) to migration, all must have priority over this country and its people.
I am convinced that if politicians found that some migrants coming to this country were cannibals, they would introduce legislation to feed them with missionaries; fattened at the taxpayers expense, in order for them to preserve their cultural identity, in the political dream of a multi cultural society.
I was so pleased when Theresa May became Prime Minister, and so angry as to how she has messed up. She is a tap dancer in a minefield, controlled by her advisers’, showing not a shred of political nuance for this country. It is also clearly evident that Jeremy Corbyn is incapable of running a drinks party in a brewery; more interested in ethnics abroad and terrorist organisations than Brits.
We would become a rogue bankrupt state in no time, with him. As for Sir Vince Cable; a born again socialist, fighting for the EU and any human rights but ours.
The House of Lords has become the most expensive retirement home for failed cronies known to history; unethical, undemocratic, and underwhelmed.
They all gesture that we must be consulted, but bureaucratic consultations come in suppository format and, having had a referendum, which didn’t give the result they wanted, argue we must have another (until it does), then ban them. (They) claim contact with us through focus groups, stuffed with people that agree with them!
The electorate are not to be trusted; they are homogenous; do not understand and are prejudicial racists, but still patronised come election time!
Politics is not about US anymore, it’s about a PC mythical humanist amoral agenda, for minorities, disenfranchised from reality, and unrepresentative of the majority!
Did Magna Carta die in vain? Steve Vickers REGARDING the planning application for MIRA building on battlefield grounds. This should not be passed. At present the ancient battlegrounds bring in visitors to the area providing local businesses with extra trade. This application would bring nothing to area only disturbance and disruption to local people’s lives.
We are told it will bring jobs. Not for locals, like most other big companies in the surrounding towns, workers from agencies will be ferried in to take the majority of jobs. The construction companies involved will bring their own workforce.
How will this benefit the local people? MIRA says their existing road from the A5 can- not take such large vehicles. Neither can Fenn Lane. If this application will provide so much revenue, why can’t MIRA spend some to improve the existing road through the site? It will bring significant wealth for some people but not for the people who live here.
The local taxes will have to foot the bill for repairs to Fenn Lane caused by such large vehicles. Of course the local council will be given money by MIRA for this application which, if passed, will certainly create a precedent for any future applications in the area.
I have worked for county councils and have served on parish councils. Mr Benham
