Village holds scarecrow trail

-

THE village of Stoney Stanton is holding its first ever scarecrow trail.

Members of the Manorfield Church of England Primary School’s PTFA have organised the event and are thrilled with the response they have received so far.

The trail will include around 70 scarecrows which will have been created by residents of the village and displayed in their front gardens.

Visitors to the event can purchase an entry form and map from the community library in St Michael’s Court before heading out to hunt for the scarecrows.

Participators of the trail will need to find all entries to crack the secret code in return for a prize.

Entry forms will cost £2 and all proceeds from the sale of them will go towards the PTFA funds for the school.

The trail will take place over two days on Saturday September 29 and Sunday September 30 from 10am till 4pm.

On both days, the library will also be holding a book sale and St Michael’s Church will be open to serve refreshments.

There was no specific theme for this year’s event, but visitors can be sure to expect to find Neil Armstaw, Sackface Strawhands and Albus Dumblestraw, to name a few of the straw-filled characters said to be apart of the trail.

The event’s main organiser, Sarah Piggot, said: “We are really pleased by with the number of entries we have received, given that this is the first year of doing this event.

“We are very grateful to the participants and thank them for their support.”

Free parking for the event is available at St Michael’s Court and the War Memorial playing fields on Carey Hill Road in the village.
