Queen’s Award given to borough test centre

-

MIRA Technology Park has been presented with a Queen’s Award, for Enterprise in the category of International Trade, for demonstrating consistent international revenue growth.

The awards ceremony, which took place at MTP, was attended by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Michael Kapur (OBE), and Vice Lord Lieutenant Colonel Murrary Colville TD, who together delivered the Grant of Appointment and presented the award.

During the event, Horiba President and Coo Dr Masayuki Adachi, Horiba MIRA’s Managing Director, Declan Allen and Michael Kapur, unveiled the ground breaking new developments to the buildings designated North West 07 and North 03.

The two faciltiies will become home to businesses specialising in electric hybrid vehicles, connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV) and Advanced driver-assis- tance systems (ADAS).

Speaking after the award ceremony, Terry Spall, Commercial Director at MIRA Technology Park, said: “We are honoured to have been presented with the Queen’s Award at today’s ceremony.

“I’m extremely proud of what the team has achieved with the devel- opment of MTP and this award is testament to the innovation and commitment we have seen from them over the past seven years to establish MIRA Technology Park as a strategic automotive sector R&D location.

“The most recent developments with North West 07 and North 03 are great examples of the continued investment HORIBA continues to make here at MTP, ensuring our appeal to international businesses goes from strength-tostrength.

“Today has been a chance to pause and reflect on what has been achieved thus far and to thank those who have so positively engaged with us; without the support we have had from Government, our surrounding local authorities and LEP’s, in particular Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and Leicester and Leicestershire LEP, and of course the many companies that have decided to locate at MTP, we simply wouldn’t have made the progress we have, which has been recognised today with a Queen’s Award.”

The rapid development of the site and its tailored offering has led to an increase in Total Revenue Growth of 320 per cent.

Since 2011, MTP has created and safeguarded over 600 high-value jobs covering specialist areas such as: Electromobility, Embedded software systems, ECU calibration, CAV and Vehicle Resilience.

The new buildings and the underlying growth strategy will enable MTP to continue providing world-class facilities for ambitious automotive businesses from around the world to establish European Research and Development operations at MIRA Technology Park.
