NKF earn another win on their travels

-

BURBAGE made the journey to Staffordshire at the weekend and came away with three points thanks to a 4-1 victory.

Rocester were relegated from the premier division last season and have found things hard going this season as well.

The game started in scrappy fashion, many passes going astray and neither side getting a foothold in the match. The first and best chance of the match fell to Rocester but their striker was unable to get any kind of connection and the chance went begging.

Burbage were the ones who would break the deadlock on the 30 minutes, Coultas floated a free kick to the back post where Bradshaw powered a header into the back of the net.

Rocester levelled things up right on the stroke of half time. Burbage would be disappointed with the way the goal came about but Rocester would be delighted with the move that saw their striker place the ball past Anderson from just inside the penalty box. Burbage didn’t even have time to restart the match.

Whatever was said at half time certainly sparked the visitors into life as they seemed better in possesion of the ball, still not at their fluid best but there was a big difference in their performance.

Matt Burt who led the line well all afternoon got Burbage back ahead when didn’t give up on a long ball and from the corner of the penalty box he lifted the ball over the oncoming keeper and into the back of the net.

Pele Orton continued his recent good form in front of goal with a brace, his second coming after the sheer persistence of Burt saw him win the ball in front of the dugouts right on the touch line, he powered into the box and laid the ball onto Orton at the back post who tapped it home to give Burbage a 4-1 victory.

The juniors had a mixed day on Sunday with 3 wins and 3 losses. The Under 12 Oranges won 2-0, whilst the Under 14s and the Under 18s both won 3-1. It wasn’t such a good day for the Under 12 Blues, the Under 13s and the Under 17s who all lost on Sunday.

NKF Burbage take on Stapenhill on Saturday at Kirkby Road Sports Ground with a 3pm Kick Off.
