Ladies through to next round of the cup

HINCKLEY Ladies FC won in style in the first round of the FA Ladies County Cup against Castle Donington.

The final score was 7-1 to Hinckley and they now go through the next round where they play Leicester City LFC Fosse on Sunday 21st October.

Hinckley have played Castle Donington several times in friendlies so they knew that they had a tough challenge ahead.

The first five minutes saw both teams struggling to gain possession of the ball. After 10 minutes, Hinckley broke the deadlock with a through ball from the midfield into the path of striker Katy Farmer who slotted home for Hinckley to go 1-0 up.

Castle Donington showed determinat­ion and got through on goal only to be met with Hinckley keeper Emma Carpenter who collected the ball safely.

Thirty minutes in, Hinckley won the ball back thanks to centre back Ria Powers. Ria passed the ball on to Louise Wykes who then put a through ball into space for Katy Farmer. Katy ran on to slot home another for Hinckley Ladies making the score 2-0.

Castle Donington managed to break down the Hinckley defence with a clever pass to their striker to make it 2-1.

The second half started with Hinckley pushing forward from the off. Hinckley were passing well, stringing multiple passes together, to get another goal for Katy Farmer in the 50th minute 3-1.

Hinckley kept control of the game scoring another goal on the 66th minute with a through ball from Holly Robson making it 4-1.

The fifth Hinckley goal came with some great linking work between the two strikers, Katy Farmer and Amanda Moore.

Castle Donington didn’t give up, causing a panic in the Hinckley defence. Luckily, the ball was over hit for Hinckley’s keeper to collect.

Hinckley caught Castle Donington sleeping in the midfield which they capitalise­d on with a goal from Amanda Moore to finish the scoring at 7-1.
