Special award handed out to day nursery
ST Bernards Day Nursery is celebrating after receiving a special award.
The Millies Mark Award, named after Millie Thompson who sadly died after choking whilst being cared for at a childcare setting, was given to the staff at the local nursery where they have been recognised for their confidence in the procedures in how to save a child’s life, whilst being both vigilant and proactive in keeping children safe and minimizing risks and accidents.
The accreditation process involved numerous audits and assessments of the setting and staff, which were then reviewed and verified by the Millies Mark panel.
Steph Alexander, Nursery Director, and Michelle Sidwell, Nursery Manager. said that they were thrilled to receive the award.
She said: “We are delighted to receive this award, as its main purpose is to ensure that childcare practitioners are prepared and competent when dealing with paediatric first aid incidents. It is a fabulous monitoring tool allowing us to reflect and review procedures as well as demonstrate our learning is kept alive and our staff are very proactive in this field.
“It is our ethos to ensure we provide a high level of childcare and of course this includes the safety of all children attending our setting, we feel this award highlights to both our staff and parents, our commitment to this cause.”
