Miniature community garden is smashed up by vandals

-

CRUEL vandals smashed up a community figurine garden in the town centre.

Several miniature houses and sheds, fencing and some cows were stamped on in the Little Hinckley arrangement on Mount Road.

Laura Greenan lives on the road and helped create the display amid the flower beds near the leisure centre car park.

At first she thought it was the wind that caused the damage but then she saw that some of the houses had been deliberately crushed.

She said in a post on the Spotted Hinckley page: “This is the first time in three years of it being there that anything untoward has happened to our little town.

“We are looking to Hinckley people to help us rebuild.

“If you would like to make any little fairy houses with your children, add plants or miniature props feel free to pop them in the flower beds.

“We will be rebuilding the town this week and look forward to it looking even better than before.”

Lots of people commented below the post offering to help rebuild the tiny town.

One person said: “Wishing you all the best to making it better than before, ladies.

“Always brings a smile to my face when I walk by, makes me wish I lived on Mount Road.”

Laura said in response: “Thanks for the support guys! Hopefully we’ll have it looking great again soon for everyone to enjoy.”

The keen gardener and her sister Sara are renowned for their colourful front garden, where they installed a hothouse made out of plastic bot- tles in early 2018.

The evergreen space came first in the Cultivation Street contest in the Small Spaces category in 2016.

Their latest project is to build a blue pagoda out of wooden pallets for climber plants to grow up.

She also said she hopes to add some Christmas decorations to spruce up Little Hinckley for the festive season.
