IT may only be October, but pantomime season is just around the corner and Hinckley’s Concordia Theatre has a classic fairy tale lined up for the annual spectacular show.

This year’s offering is a brand new adaptation of a timeless Disney classic Beauty and the Beast.

It will boast a fantastically talented cast, including many panto regulars such as Phil Bevington, Craig Martin, Tim Clay, Helen Linnett and Keeley Mays.

Imogen Barrs and Ben Burgess will play the title roles, both having worked their way up from the chorus to star in the production.

They will be joined by a a brilliant set of young dancers and the rest of the company.

Directed by John Will with music from Steve Sanders and choreography by Carol Whitmore, the show promises to be a visual treat with stunning sets and scenery, and amazing costumes to make every show a memorable one.

Traditionally, the story of Beauty and the Beast follows an arrogant young prince and his castle’s servants who fall under the spell of a wicked enchantress, who turns him into a hideous Beast.

In order to break the spell, he must learn to love and be loved in return, which takes the spirited and headstrong village girl Belle, to help draw the coldhearted Beast from isolation.

Most people will be familiar with the 1991 Walt Disney animation, which was made into a live-action film in 2017 featuring British actress Emma Watson, famously known for playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series.

After its launch across cinemas worldwide, the film became one of the highest-grossing movies of all time and went on to receive several award nominations.

And now it is time for the Concordia to bring the Disney/ Hollywood blockbuster to Hinckley, with a wonderful, magical explosion of festive fun for all the family to enjoy.

During the spectacular pantomime season, the Buttercream Tearoom in Hinckley will be serving Beauty and the Beast themed children’s afternoon tea, which can be booked either before or after the matinee performance and prior to all evening shows.

The themed tea will comprise of finger sandwiches, crisps and vegetable sticks, along with a fresh scone, cake and mini dessert, and why not dress as your favourite fairy tale character too.

To book a table at the Buttercream Tearoom, call 07955 678325 or contact them on social media.

Tickets for the enchanted annual pantomime will be on sale online from Saturday October 20.

Performances will take place from Wednesday to Sunday at 7.30pm, with matinee performances each Saturday at 2.30pm and Sunday at 1pm in addition to the usual evening show.
