Barefoot in the Park is performed by the Broughton Astley Drama Society. Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. After a six day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbour-inthe-attic Velasco, where everything that can go wrong, does.

Shelby’s Golden Memories, 50th anniversar­y show.

November 3 & 4

Take Five (3) is performed by the New Theatre Players Studio. A sequel to the sequel of an evening of variety, with something for everyone. Continuing the theme of our first two shows we will have some old favourites, some future sneaky peeks, some personal choices, and something maybe a little different.

November 6-17

The Concordia AOS perform Oklahoma! The first musical written by the team of composer Richard Rodgers and librettist Oscar Hammerstei­n II. Full of classics, from the opening number of ‘Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’ taking you through a sumptuous and rousing score full of wonderful songs such as ‘The Surrey with The Fringe on Top’, ‘People Will Say We’re in Love’, ‘Many a New Day’, ‘I Can’t Say No’, and the final rousing chorus of ‘Oklahoma!’. As the music soars you will be carried along on the emotional journey of one of the most famous love stories in musical history.

November 25

A fundraisin­g evening for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal called Pack up Your Troubles. To commemorat­e the centenary of the end of WW1 and Armistice Day, Concordia is hosting a fund raising concert which tells the story of World War 1 with stories from Leicester and Leicesters­hire during 1914 – 18, using the songs, pictures and radio archive material of the time.

December 4 -8

New Theatre Players perform Season’s Greetings. Cheating at snakes and ladders, fighting over comic books, a bungled infidelity beneath the tree. Christmas has arrived in the Bunker household along with family and friends. But as the children lurk just out of sight, it’s the adults who are letting the side down.

December 9

Ballet Theatre UK perform Sleeping Beauty. This spectacula­r production, set to Tchaikovsk­y’s glorious music with stunning classical choreograp­hy, reawakens the magic of the world’s favourite fairy tale.

December 13 to 15

Eric Darlington with the John Cleveland Band perform a concert.
