Plans for huge rail freight hub to go on show
PLANS for a huge industrial complex near Hinckley are to go on display at several venues.
A round of public exhibitions for the Strategic Rail Freight Interchange scheme include events across the borough.
The massive employment hub would cover some 440 acres of farmland in a wedge between the M69 and the Leicester to Hinckley railway line.
It would include 850,000 square metres of warehouses able to house trains up to half a mile in length, with a potential workforce of 8,400 on site.
Developer DB Symmetry submitted a scoping report to the Planning Inspectorate in March 2018, with a public consultation launching now before a formal consultation from January to March 2019.
Exhibitions are going on in Hinckley at St Francis Community Centre on November 9 and 10 from noon to 6pm, at Burbage’s Millenium Hall on October 29 from 3pm to 8pm, and at The George Ward Centre in Barwell on November 7 from 2pm to 8pm.
The plans will also be on show at Elmesthorpe Village Hall on October 26 from 2pm to 8pm and on October 27 from 10 am to 1pm, at Sapcote Methodist Church on October 31 from 2pm to 8pm, and at Stoney Stanton Village Hall on November 2 from 1pm to 7pm.
