Two awards for cancer charity
AN inspirational cancer research charity is celebrating after winning two prestigious awards after being recognised for the impact of its work on the community and highlighting a poignant member of its staff.
The work and dedication of Leicester-based Hope Against Cancer was celebrated during an extremely successful month to remember.
The first award was received at the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce Leicestershire Business Awards, where the charity were presented with the Community Impact Award - open to organisations which has demonstrated continued commitment to supporting the local community and the good causes within it.
Following this fantastic achievement, Hope Against Cancer’s Corporate and Events Fundraiser, Tracy, Hallam, was named Inspirational Woman of the Year, at the Leicester Mercury Women in Business Awards - which celebrates the success of businesswomen across Leicestershire and the contribution they have made to the local community.
A spokesperson for the charity has said that Tracey has been instrumental in raising the profile of the incredible work Hope Against Cancer does in funding local cancer research and supporting the people it affects through organising and managing various fundraising events.
Tracey explained, “I’m determined to ensure that anyone affected by cancer has access to better treatments, through our research,” she adds: “The funds we receive from our fundraising events and generous donations go towards funding vital cancer research locally and supporting our Hope nurse at our clinical trials facility at Leicester Royal Infirmary, which we hope will lead to better treatments and ultimately, a world where nobody is affected by cancer.
“That’s what I dream of achieving!”
Tracey wasn’t the only Hope Against Cancer member taking home an accolade, Eileen Richards, who is on the charity’s Board of Trustees, won the highest honour of the night - the Businesswoman of the Year Award.
Eileen has been a passionate supporter of the charity’s work, and everyone there was quick to celebrate her outstanding achievement.
