Cash raised for Air Ambulance at stables open day

-

AN OPEN day at a stables in Burbage raised hundreds of pounds for the Air Ambulance Service.

Katie B. Frisby Point to Point Racing and Rehabilitation was opened for the general public to look around the yard, meet the current race horses and horses on rehabilitation.

Ms Frisby said: “It was a great success, we estimated 200 people came to the yard, it gave people the opportunity to come and have a look and an insight of what goes on behind the scenes in the training of racehorses and rehabilitating injured horses back to health,

“A lot of local people came that didn’t even know we existed and others came from far and wide just to meet the horses as they follow them on social media and my website.

“Thank you to everyone who was able to make it and to all the local companies and businesses involved that supplied some fantastic raffle prizes on the day.”

The event raised £600 for the good cause, which members of The Stars and Diamonds Racing Club presented to Graham Wightman from Hinckley.

Ms Frisby, Paddy the Shetland pony and Carumba the horse were also there for the presentation.

Carumba runs in the racing club’s colours in hunter chases at racecourses and at point to point meetings.

Shares are still available in The Stars and Diamonds Racing Club, including horses Carumba and Culverwell for a one-off fee of £350 for the whole year.
