DESPITE the far from perfect conditions there was an excellent turn out for Shackersto­ne’s Members Fur & Feather contest.

With the top three all winning turkey’s, it was Kev Green who took home the biggest Christmas dinner, catching two small bream and some roach to weigh 1lb 15ozs.

Geoff Taylor caught small roach and rudd weighing 1lb 9ozs to take second place with Ian Plant finishing third with a 1lb 3oz small roach catch. Section Winners were Roger Pickering with a 1lb 2oz catch and Andy Smith with 15ozs. Its has been reported that a worried looking Doug Dimbleby has been spotted lurking round the freezer section at Morrisons !

Higham Lane’s Thursday Open match was won yet again by Andy Findlay who made it three wins in his last three matches at the venue. Drawn on peg 17 Andy used both pole and feeder tactics to finish with a winning 53lb 11oz catch.

Runner up Dave Hurlston fished a pellet feeder to land 47lb 3ozs with Paul Gardner taking third place with 35lb 11ozs.

Top catch in Wednesday’s Maynes Lakes Open was made by Andy Stewart who used rod and line to fish a waggler down the middle in the deeper water to finish with 35lb of carp. Results; Pool One, First; Tom Watt 33lb 1oz peg 38. Pool Two, First; Andy Stewart peg 15. Pool Three, First; Karl Downing 19lb 9ozs peg 45.

Lutterwort­h Angling Club travelled to Higham lane for their latest contest. Ian Stripp took the honours, finishing well clear with a 71lb 1oz catch from peg 7.

Phil Neep came second with a 32lb 6ozs while Mick Bassett landed 25lb 5ozs of roach to finish third.

Higham Lane’s Saturday Open match was won by Chris Wayte with a 70lb 6oz catch on pole fished pellet from peg 23.Chris Wright came second with 46lb 9ozs while John Varley took third place with 35lb 9ozs.

It was surprising­ly hard for Lychgate Fisheries midweek Open where despite a good turn out there were few carp caught.

Chris Duffy did manage to find a few in his winning 31lb 4oz catch from peg 38. Paul Bates came second with just 12lb 4ozs while Robin Duffy finished third with 6lb 8ozs.

The eighth round of the Plough Angling Club’s Aggregate series was fished on a frosty river Avon at Ryton. Mick Durrant took the honours again from peg 49 with a 6lb 3oz catch of small chub and roach. Nigel James and George Howe tied for second place, both weighing 2lb 3ozs with Mark Chin finishing fourth with 2lb 2ozs.

Higham Lane Fishery have an Open match every Thursday draw 9am and every Saturday, again draw at 9am. The Club matches have now finished and the lake is again open on Sunday’s for pleasure anglers.

Lychgate Fisheries have an Open match every Saturday, draw 9am.

Brookfield have an Open match this Sunday at Stoke Golding, draw 9am.

Shackersto­ne have the second round of their Members Onstyle Lifting sponsored Winter League this Sunday. Draw 7.45am at the Rising Sun.

Maynes Lakes have an Open match every Wednesday, draw 10am.

Lychgate Fisheries have an Open match every Wednesday, draw 9am.
