Tickling people pink at Asda raises over £3,000

-

AN unsung BBC Sports Personality of the Year from Hinckley has helped to raise more than £3,000 for the Tickled Pink initiative.

Asda worker and community champion, Denise Shannon embarked on a fundraising mission involving all of her supermarket colleagues to raise money for the tickled pink campaign which works to raise money for breast cancer now and breast cancer care.

Throughout October all Asda stores organise tickled pink events to fundraise for the two cancer charities.

This year Denise decided that she, along with all other employees at the Hinckley store, would dress up and take it in turns to cycle in the foyer hoping to raise as much money as possible.

“We were really excited to see how much we had raised and as it was a team effort, everyone was part of the total miles and pounds,” says Denise, “And with the money going to such a great cause we were all very happy.”

During the fundraising week the team had managed to cycle 1149 miles and raise an incredible £3182.92.

“The best part was all the customer interactions, the customers loved it and were coming in just to see how we were getting on. I even got a few of them on the bike!” she added.

“What a brilliant community we have at Asda Hinckley and very generous too.”

Not one to shy away from community events, Denise is already planning next year’s fundraiser in the hope of raising even more cash for the combined breast cancer charities.
