Work starts on taking down former care home

DEMOLITION of the arson-hit Hornsey Rise Memorial home near Market Bosworth has just got underway, clearing the way for 20 new homes.

Developer Springbourne Homes is clearing the 10-acre site in Bosworth Road in preparation for the construction of a selection of three, four and five bedroom homes.

The old care home, built in 1921, was closed in 2012 and has since become a target for arsonists, vandals and fly-tip- pers which is making it a local eyesore.

All of that is about to change however, as the housing developer begins to transform the area.

“There’s a lot of hard work to be done preparing the site which has become a real blot on the landscape and a centre for anti-social behaviour in recent times,” said Adrian Burr, Springbourne Homes’ managing director.

“The good news is that it’s all about to be transformed. The burnt out buildings are coming down, the whole site cleared and levelled and by the New Year we should be well advances with our plans to deliver something truly special.”

A new wider entrance and a private access road will be constructed once the buildings and overgrown land have been cleared, allowing building work on the new homes to start in the New Year.

Springbourne’s construc- tion team will be making the switch from their current site at Trout Ponds Farm in Sheepy Magna, having proved a big success at that location with 24 homes already sold, the team are hoping for a quick start on the Wellsborough grounds.

Mr Burr added: “Like Trout Ponds, Wellsborough sits in an enviable location in the heart of the lovely Leicestershire countryside.

“Locations like these don’t become available too often, so we are expecting more keen interest when we unveil the full plans and designs for Wellsborough soon.”

Hinckley-based Haywards Architects are currently finalis- ing the lay-out of the site and the designs for the elegant, bespoke homes which will go on sale next year.

The first new homes will become available in 2019 and the site will be completed in 2020.
