Pyjama party in the pool for charity

-

MORE than £800 has been raised for the Rainbow Trust thanks to a charity Puddle Ducks swimming event.

During the event little swimmers swapped their costumes for pyjamas to raise awareness of water safety and to raise vital funds for the charity.

The baby and children swim school host a charity PJ Week each year and chose Rainbows to raise money for the families it supports.

The trust provides a lifeline to children from birth to 18-years-old who have a life threatening or terminal illness, supporting their whole family wherever it is needed - at home, in hospital or in the community.

Besides raising money for the charity, Puddle Ducks also wanted to highlight the valuable life skill of swimming when fully clothed as most people who come into danger around water are fully dressed, therefore wearing pyjamas provides a good indication of what it would be like and gives them the confidence and skills should they find themselves in a dangerous situation.

Cate Woodrow-Smith, owner of Puddle Ducks, said: “We’re so proud of all the children, past and present, who have taken part in our charity PJ Week and helped us to raise so much money for the Rainbow Trust.

“They all came eager to learn and ready to experience swimming in their pyjamas. We especially love it when the parents get involved too! Even after seven years this is still one of our biggest highlights of the year.”
