Festive family fun run in Hinckley this Sunday

-

A FREE FESTIVE Family Fun run hosted by Hinckley BID and the borough council will be held on Sunday 9 December in Hinckley town centre.

The run, which is just under a mile long, starts at 10.30am from the Market Place in Hinckley with participants invited to dress up as Santa, an elf or reindeer or wear their Christmas jumpers.

Hinckley BID will be awarding a £50 voucher prize for the best dressed entrant, and also a £25 voucher for each of two runnersup. All others will be awarded a commemorative neck medal by the mayor.

Executive member for Culture and Leisure at the borough council Cllr Maureen Cook said: “Yet another annual festive event for our community! Time to dress up warmly and get your running shoes on. Everyone welcome – don’t miss out on the fun. If you do not wish to take part in the run just come along and watch– the atmosphere I’m sure will be amazing.”

Steve Wegerif, Director of Hinckley BID said: “This will be great fun for all ages and an ideal event for all family members to enter together – there is also a free ‘Sweet Stop’ for all the children on their way round the course!

“It’s not about speed; it’s about enjoying yourselves and having fun.”

The route is suitable for all abilities including wheelchairs and pushchairs - walking, toddling or ambling is encouraged for any non-runners. There will also be a fun warm-up routine from the ‘Healthy Elf’ for anyone interested!

Entry is free and parking is free in all Council town centre car parks on Sundays.
