Public invited to mayor’s Christmas litter pick

-

MAYOR of Hinckley and Bosworth, Councillor Jan Kirby is urging local residents to join her for a Christmas Litter Pick at Burbage Common on Sunday 8 December from 9.30am to 11.30am.

The mayor and local ward councillor for Hinckley, Cllr Jan Kirby said: “Burbage Common and Woods is well loved by residents and its sweeping open countryside and winding woodland pathways have always been particularly popular with dog walkers. While most people respect the countryside and leave no trace of their visit, sadly a minority of visitors do not.

“I hope users of the Common and local residents will join me and other council representatives on Saturday 8 December for a couple of hours to clean up any litter. We have held this event for a number of years and it is a great way for people to meet, and do something for their local environment. I look forward to seeing everyone.”

The council’s Clean Neighbourhood team will provide all equipment: high visibility vests, rubbish bags, protective gloves and litter sticks and as way of a thank you tea, coffee and mince pies will be provided free of charge to all volunteers.

Anybody interested in joining the Mayor should meet at the car park next to the café. Children and pets are welcome.
