A barber from Elmesthorpe has raised over £350 for the Anthony Nolan charity in memory of his best friend.

Danny White, 22, held a fundraising event at Staat barbers in Hinckley to fundraise for the charity and help to remember his beloved friend who passed away three years ago.

Harvey Waterfield of Enderby was just 20-years-old when he died from cancer and each year since his death, his friends gather to remember him by raising money for charity.

“Every year we do something to remember Harvey, previously we have held charity football matches but this year I decided that I would donate a third of all haircut sales to Anthony Nolan,” explains Danny.

“We understand that it’s really tough for his parents so we try to help in any way that we can.

“They definitely appreciate what us as his friends are doing to remember their son and they’re grateful that we are helping to give other people a chance by raising money for the charity.

“It was Harvey’s parents’ wishes to donate a third of proceedings to Anthony Nolan, as it’s the charity they donate to themselves so it was important to them.”

The event managed to raise a total of £357 which has been given to the trust to help raise vital money to help give patients a second chance at life.

“We are really proud of what we’ve done, for a relatively new business to raise that much just feels so rewarding,” adds Danny.

“It was for a specific cause so I’m glad that we can still continue to help in some way and most importantly, remember our friend at the same time.”
