Date announced for half marathon
THE date has been announced for the Loughborough Half Marathon next year.
It will take place on Sunday, April 7 and the 13.1mile course is described as one of the toughest in the East Midlands.
Organised by the Loughborough based charity Living Without Abuse, this year they are hoping to raise even more than last year’s figure of £20,000.
Living Without Abuse’s event organiser Gina King said: “This is the third year and possibly last year of the half-marathon on this route and we are hoping for an excellent turnout. The run is all on pavements, footpaths and pathways and is certainly tough but a fantastic course through some side.
“Living Without Abuse (LWA) believes that all people have the right to live safely and without fear of violence and abuse and every penny we raise for the event really does make a difference to people’s lives.”
The charity offers information and advice to anyone experiencing domestic abuse and provides support services to anyone living in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland.
Registration is now open and the entry fee for the half marathon is £26 for unaffiliated runners and £24 if you’re affiliated to a running club. There is also a Team Relay Challenge with four people per team beautiful country- with a total entry fee of £70.00.
The event is co-sponsored by Duncan & Toplis Loughborough, and the charity’s new headline sponsor for all events during 2019 Arch Communications.
Arch communications founder and director Matt Youdale said: “We are proud to be sponsoring such a fantastic event and to be promoting the work of Living Without Abuse.
“The charity is vital to all victims suffering at the hands of others and I encourage all runners, serious and otherwise, to join in.”
