Andy Smith wins again from the golden peg!

THE final round of Shackersto­ne’s Onstyle Lifting sponsored league was fished along the Woodside length.. It turned out to be another good day for last weeks winner Andy Smith, who again won off the Golden peg ! Andy caught 1lb 10ozs of small perch, runner up Andy Morton wasn’t to far behind with a 1lb 8oz catch while Kev Milne finished third with just 9ozs. Winner of the League was Andy Smith with 8 points, Kevin Cooper came second with 12 points. Kev Milne finished third with 13 points.

Andy Findlay scored another con- vincing win in Higham Lane’s Thursday Open. Drawn on peg 22 he used a small pellet feeder to catch 64lb 9ozs. Finishing well clear of runner up Andy Stewart who weighed 27lb 11ozs for second place while Paul Gardener came third with a 24lb 6ozs catch.

Robin Duffy took the honours in Lychgate Fisheries midweek Open contest. Drawn on peg 43 Robin used method feeder tactics to catch 43lb 12oz of carp and bream. Ian Shirley fished “bomb & bread” on peg 47 to weigh 32lb 4ozs for second place. Jeff Robertshaw finished third with 21lb 2ozs.

Anglers braved the elements to fish Maynes Lakes midweek Open but sport suffered in the difficult conditions. Alan Wilson drew the “Lucky Peg” and won with a 14lb 9ozs catch. Result. Pool One, Winner; Dave Cleaver, 11lb 15ozs from peg 36. Pool Two, Winner; Alan Wilson, peg 22.

Saturday’s Higham lane Fishery Open was won by Chris Whaite from peg 25. Using pole and leger tactics to catch 31lb 9ozs. Terry Sanderson’s legered cheese method paid off again with a second place catch weighing 29lb 7ozs. Alan Grewcock finished third with 23lb 10ozs.

With the carp not feeding it was hard work at Lychgate Fisheries last weekend. Saturday’s Open match was won by Ian Shirley, who caught most of his fish in the last hour! A last chance “chuck” with the feeder while he started to pack up, resulted in two bream, two ide and a carp being caught, boosting his catch to a winning 8lb 12ozs. Sunday’s contest was even harder,anyone of Andy Findlay’s three carp would have been enough to win on its own, added with two bream, Andy finished so far in front that his weight wasn’t recorded !!

Higham Lane have Open matches every Thursday and Saturday. Draw 9am. Lychgate Fisheries have Open matches every Saturday and Sunday, draw 9.15am.

Shackersto­ne have an Open match this Sunday. Draw 7.45am at the Rising Sun.

Maynes Lakes have an Open match every Wednesday, draw 10am.

Lychgate Fisheries have an Open match every Wednesday, draw 9.15am.
