Police alerted as men take pics near school
Patrols stepped up as pair were seen acting suspiciously
POLICE have stepped up patrols at a primary school after men were seen taking photographs outside.
At lunchtime on Tuesday February 12 the two men, who were sitting in a car parked near St Mary’s Church of England Primary School, in Hinckley town centre, were reported to the police.
Police said the men had left the area when they arrived at the school in Station Road.
Officers have asked the school to let parents know about the incident.
A police spokeswoman said: “Officers received a report around 1pm on Tuesday of two men sitting in a parked car nearby to the school in Station Road, acting suspiciously and potentially taking photographs.
“When staff from the school went out to speak to the men, they had left the area.
“Beat officers went down and chatted to the school staff.
“A beat team car was stationed outside the school to make observations as a precautionary measure and we also recommended the school text parents to let them know and to tell them to get in touch with the school if they see anything sus- picious or have any information.”
In its text message to parents on Tuesday afternoon, the school said: “We have had an incident at lunchtime today where a man approached the school gates and allegedly took photographs.
“This was reported to the police immediately.
“If you witness any suspicious behaviour in the school vicinity, please contact the school and the police without delay.”
