Sally’s mission to raise cash for charity which helps her mum

A WOMAN from Burbage is hoping to raise £10,000 for Myeloma UK after her mum was diagnosed with the incurable disease.

Sally Gibson has been on a mission since last year to raise funds for the charity after finding out about the hidden form of blood cancer.

Unlike many cancers, Myeloma does not exist as a lump or tumour and can remain hidden for a long period of time.

Sally said: “We had never heard of Myeloma before and neither have people we speak to.

“My mission is to raise awareness whilst raising crucial funds to help Myeloma UK in their research for this devastating illness.”

As part of her mission, Sally has been raising money through weekly events as well as receiving donations from friends and family.

The determined lady has taken part in a week of sponsored exercises led by Ruth Armstrong in Hinckley, organised tombolas and raffles and is selling donated items through her ‘Sally’s Mission for Myeloma’ Facebook page.

As well as this, Sally has organised a charity dog walk at Burbage Common on Sunday March 3 and will be climbing Mount Snowdon on Saturday March 16.

This Saturday, there will be a coffee morning held at The Greyhound Pub in Hinckley, where coffee, tea and cakes will be for sale and all money raised will go to funding the research by Myeloma UK.

Everybody is welcome to attend the event from 10am till 2pm where there will be a variety of fundraising activities such as guess the name of the teddy bear, tombola stalls and guess how many sweets are in the jar.

Sally’s current total is £7.5k but she is hoping that the forthcoming events and sponsors will push her to reach, if not, beat her target by Thursday March 21.

To sponsor Sally, or donate money to help fund vital research then visit her just giving page at www.justgiving. com/fundraising/sally-gibson.

All of the money raised through sponsorships, donations and events will go straight to the UK charity to help fund vital human research.
