Celebration of Smiles day in memory of Isla

-

THERE will be a Celebration of Smiles day in Argents Mead this weekend in memory of Isla Tansey.

The free family event, which has been organised by Isla’s family and friends, will take place on Saturday 13 July from 10am to 3pm.

Featuring music, singing, dancing, cheerleading, stone painting, local radio, entertainment and much more, the event aims to raise awareness of childhood cancer and fundraise towards the Isla Smiler researcher post. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Supporters can be part of a Guinness World record attempt by bringing painted stones along with them.

Organisers are attempting to beat the world record for the largest number of painted stones in one place at the event. The current record is 4000 stones and each stone must be base coated, decorated with any picture and signed #islastones to qualify.

Isla’s #photo #post #rehide campaign, a creative pastime which grew into a huge social media campaign, continues to raise the profile of childhood cancers and DIPG, the cancer which seven-year-old Isla suffered from.

Isla’s Facebook page now has over 64,000 followers and family, friends and supporters are hoping to raise £73,000 to fund a dedicated ‘Isla Smiler’ DIPG Trial’s Researcher.

Isla Tansey died last year after losing her battle with a spinal tumour, at the age of 7.

The brave youngster started the #islastones campaign, encouraging people around the world to paint and hide stones, posting pictures of them online for her to see.
