ANDY Findlay stormed to yet another win in Sunday’s Lychgate Fisheries Open match. Drawn on peg 52 Andy pole fished floating bread to catch a massive 211lb 8oz of carp. The best weight of the year so far. Runner up, along way behind, was Dick Leatherlan­d with a 72lb 2oz catch from peg 39. Steve Oswick finished third with 48lbs from peg 43.

Hinckley’s Doug Dimbleby’s amazing start to the season continued with yet another win, taking the honours in Sunday’s Measham Lambert Shield contest. Fished along the Globe length at Snarestone the “Ashby Canal legend” landed a level 5lb of small bream to finish well clear of Hubert Noar, who included a big perch in his 2lb 11oz catch. Dave Wileman finished third with 2lb 4ozs.

There was a big turn out and some big catches in Mayne’s lakes midweek Open. Leading the way was Pete Whitby with a 57lb 5oz winning catch.

Result; Pool One, First; Pete Whitby peg 7. Pool Two, First; Andy Stewart, 48lb 6ozs, peg 34. Pool Three, First; Chris Edwards, 36lb 12ozs, peg 43.

Lutterwort­h Angling Club made the short journey up the A5 to fish Makins Lakes 3 and 4 on Sunday. Lake Three produced all the top catches with Keith Vickers fishing the method before catching some fish on the pole at the end, finishing with a winning 116lb 8oz catch. Billy Burton came second with 86lb 12ozs while Martin Lemberg finished third with 80lb 6ozs.

Top catch from Lake Four was made by Mick Bassett who weighed 51lb 8ozs from peg 25.

Thursday’s Higham Lane Open was won by Andy Findlay who pole fished pellet on peg 5 to catch 80lb 7ozs. Alan Grewcock came second from peg 1 with 78lb 11ozs. Dave Hurlston finished third with 46lb 3ozs.

The Third Round of Shackersto­ne’s Member’s Tuesday evening series, sponsored by the Rising Sun, was fished along the Barton Road length. Kevin Milne landed a decent perch, four bream and some small fish on pole fished worm to win with a 4lb 3oz catch. Andy Morton came second with 3lb 5ozs while David Gill was third with 2lb 11ozs. At the half way stage Doug Dimbleby leads with 17 points, Alan Morris is second with 14 points and Derek Summers is third with 13 points.

Higham Lane’s Saturday Open match was won by the inform Alan Grewcock who landed 88lb 9ozs from peg 13.

Chris Waite finish second with 84lb 9ozs while John Varley’s come back continue’s with a third placed 69lb 9oz catch.

Measham’s Wednesday evening Open series continued along the Globe length where Paul Altton took the honours with a 7lb 8oz catch of small bream.

Dave Callaghan finished second with 3lb 7ozs while Alan Dixon was third with 2lb 10ozs. Doug Dimbleby also leads this series with 44 point after three matches. Phil Baker is second with 32 points while Hubert Noar is third with 31.

Higham Lane Fishery have Open matches every Wednesday evening, draw 5.30pm and every Thursday, draw 9am.

Measham hold an Open match every Wednesday evening, draw 5.30pm at the Globe Inn at Snarestone.

Lychgate Fisheries have Open matches on Saturday, draw 9.15am and Sunday, draw 11am.

Measham have an “Away” match this Sunday on the Polesworth Canal at Alvercote. Draw at the Sam Barlow Pub, next to the canal, at 7.45am.

Shackeston­e have a Members series every Tuesday evening, Draw at the Rising Sun at 5.30pm

Mayne’s Lake’s have an Open match every Wednesday, Draw 10am.
