Series of fun days taking place in Earl Shilton this summer organised by church

FAMILIES looking to be entertaine­d this summer are being invited to enjoy a series of fun days in Earl Shilton.

Venues across the town will be holding family events throughout the holidays, including crafts and games and film screenings.

On Thursday July 18, Earl Shilton Methodist Church, based at The Hollow, will open between 11am and 3pm as a ‘Place to Be.’ Throughout the event, residents and children will have the chance to chat with friends, colour and enjoy free drinks, biscuits and lunch.

The Place to Be event will move to the Saint Simon and St Jude Parish Hall, on High Street, on Wednesday July 24 and August 15 between 11am and 3pm.

It will also be held at the Independen­t Chapel on August 2, the Earl Shilton Roman Catholic Church on Melton Street on August 9, the Bethel and Bethesda Care Home on August 12, before finishing at Kingsfield Court on August 21.

Meanwhile, the Saint Simon and St Jude Parish Hall, on High Street, will open its doors on Wednesday 7 August between 11am and 3pm to give children the chance to enjoy crafts, food and games.

The hall will also open on Wednesday August 14 for games, food and film before hosting an Earl Shilton’s Got Talent event, featuring food and a party, on Thursday August 22.

On Saturday August 31, families can enjoy the Earl Shilton Town Show, including food and games, at the Methodist Church Hall in The Hollow, also between the hours of 11am and 3pm.

Finally, free breakfast in the Parish Hall will be offered on Thursday July 18, Thursday July 25 and Thursday August 15 between 9am and 10.30am and on Sunday July 31 and Sunday August 18 between 9.15 and 10.15am.
