Trio get on their bikes for charity

-

A TEAM of cyclists rode 140 miles from Leicester to Cromer to raise funds to support families bereaved of children.

The trio from funeral director G Seller in Hinckley took on the challenge in aid of The Bodie Hodges Foundation, pedalling from the Leicester Tigers training ground at Oval Park to the North Norfolk seaside town.

Senior funeral director Kevin Draper and his son Pete rode the full route via Tallington Lakes while their colleague Russ Abbott joined them for the demanding 40 miles from Leicester to the lakes.

Weather conditions proved to be very adverse for the journey.

Kevin said: “The weather could have been kinder but in a way it brought everyone closer together on the ride as we were determined to finish, despite the atrocious conditions.

“This is a great charity that does some incredible work for others and raising over £1,500 makes the effort all the more worthwhile too.”

The foundation provides respite for bereaved families from the East Midlands, creating relaxing and safe environments for peace and reflection.

It also aid siblings in their grieving process and promotes organ donation.

Joseph Barsby, managing director at G Seller, said: “So far the team has raised £1,580 for the charity with donations to support their endeavours still coming in.

“As a business we take our position in the community seriously and support our team when they undertake events like this to raise funds for a local charity that makes a real difference to the lives of the families they provide care and support for.”

“I am delighted that they completed the course despite the conditions and applaud them for their drive and determination to complete it.”
