Extended services at town surgery
MORE access to GPs and ECG monitoring treatment are among the extended services coming to a Hinckley surgery.
Hinckley and Bosworth Medical Alliance was awarded a contract to provide extended services at The Centre Surgery on Hill Street for the next five years.
Patients can look forward to new services, including improved access to nurses, a health care assistant and pharmacist and improved online service and access to Skype and telephone conversations.
Other improved benefits will include spirometry screening for respiratory problems and inhouse wound care management.
Dr Darren Jackson, a GP at the surgery and member of the Hinckley and Bosworth GP Federation, said: “We have been running the practice for the last two years in a ‘caretaking’ capacity and welcome this award as it gives us the opportunity to continue to improve and develop services for the patients at The Centre Surgery.
“We have recruited a new experienced clinical team of GPs, nurses and a practice pharmacist, all of whom are committed to providing the best care to our patients.
“With the support of the CCG and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council we were able to use Section 106 funding, which is paid by housing developers to local government to help expand local health services.
“In 2018 this funding was used to completely refurbish the surgery premises. These refurbishments have provided an additional treatment room which will enable us to increase services to patients in the future.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the practice team, the Patient Participation Group and our neighbouring practices to deliver care closer to home for our patients.”
Patients registered at the surgery should continue to contact and use the practice as normal.
If you would like to join the patient participation group at the practice, ask a member of the reception team or visit the surgery website.
After the five years have passed, the medical alliance may be offered a further fiveyear extension, subject to a review of service provision and patient satisfaction.
