The big cats made out of Lego at zoo

TWYCROSS Zoo is giving people the chance to get up close and personal with lion cubs, leopards and panthers this summer.

Luckily, there isn’t a chance of getting a claw to the face as they are all made out of Lego!

The Bricklive Big Cats exhibition will give visitors the chance to meet some of the zoo’s favourite cats close-up.

Their lion cubs, Liam and Lita, have been immortalised as Lego sculptures, along with Padman the panther and Lenora the African leopard.

In total there are 12 incredible models on show - made up from almost 750,000 bricks.

The models took one year and four months to build.

Lego fans both young and young at heart can marvel at these special creations - and might just gain some inspiration for their next Lego project.

While you’re at the exhibit, don’t forget to visit the real life stars of the show.

Jahly and Sialang, a pair of critically endangered Sumatran tigers, can be found in their impressive habitat which has a 15m glass tunnel right through the centre.

Also not to be missed are the beautiful snow leopards and critically endangered Amur leopards, both some of the rarest big cat species on the planet!

Twycross Zoo is home to more than 500 animals from more than 125 species.

It is the only place in the UK with the four great apes - chimpanzees, gorillas, orang utans and bonobos.

As well as the exciting arrival of Nandi the Rhino this year, guests can enjoy a whole host of experiences - discover Chimpanzee Eden, feed the lorikeets, pet the goats, explore Butterfly Forest, splash around in Wet ‘n’ Wild and more.

Children can even go on a mini adventure in the Explorer Zone in their own electric Safari Car.

Karen Clarke, Chief Operating Officer at Twycross Zoo, said: “This summer is a real milestone in Twycross Zoo’s history as we welcome back Sumatran tigers as part of a vital European breeding programme to help to protect the critically endangered species.

“Providing visitors with a unique chance to also see the magnificent Bricklive Big Cats models is the icing on the cake to an already fabulous day out.

“Summer 2019 is going to be one to remember at Twycross zoo and we can’t wait to welcome visitors to enjoy meeting our animals and amazing Lego brick felines.”
