Rugby club set to host its first car boot sale

-

EVER wondered what to do with yourself on Sunday morning?

The answer is probably no, but for those who do find themselves at a loose end, or need to clear some space in the garage, then Hinckley Rugby Club may have the answer.

The club is holding it’s first ever Car Boot Sale on Sunday, July 28 and intend to make it a regular event in the future.

The sale is the brainchild of Clubhouse Manager, Lucy Flatters, who came up with the idea after deciding she needed to do something about the stuff she had accumulated in her attic over the years.

“A car boot sale seemed to be the obvious answer,” explained Flatters.

“There are a few boot sales around but they are all a bit of a drive away, and as far as I know there isn’t one in Hinckley.

“The club is ideally placed to put on such an event and we have plenty of space to hold such an event.

“It just seemed the obvious thing to do!” Club Chairman, John Tilley was very supportive of the idea.

He said: “We are a bit quiet down at the club on a Sunday in the close season and when Lucy came up with the idea, it seemed a good way of keeping things ticking over.

“We are anxious to introduce our facilities to as many people in the area as possible and apart from anything else, a car boot sale will bring down some people who haven’t visited the club before and give us a chance to showcase the place. We are a community club and we want people to come and see what we have to offer.

“I’ll probably have a bit of a clear out myself and take a pitch.

“Hopefully, bob.”

The club pitches clubhouse will be open throughout the event offering breakfasts and other refreshments on site.

“I may say so myself, but we do a cracking breakfast at the club,” commented Flatters.

“I hope people I’ll make a few will try us out while they are with us.”

The sale will be held in the main car park area with ample parking for buyers elsewhere on the site.

The grounds will be open for “booters” from 6am on the Sunday morning and 7am for buyers.

There will be a £6 charge for cars (£8 for vans) and adult admission for buyers will be £1.

Accompanied children will be admitted free of charge. For further details, contact Lucy Flatters on 07970 966590.
