HINCKLEY and Rugby Building Society has opened its new head office in the town’s former magistrates court building.

The group has moved its 100-plus headquarters staff across the road on Upper Bond Street from where it was formerly based since 1970, into the new place.

The operation launched more than 150 years ago.

Gone are the court rooms and the cells once used to accommodate defendants, replaced by open plan offices, meeting and training suites, along with informal breakout spaces and a refreshments area.

The new facility covers almost 20,000 square feet of floor space and is a third bigger than the previous one, providing extra space for the society to continue growing its customer base and staff.

It also increases its capacity to fostering more collaborative working across departments and teams.

Head office staff numbers have doubled since 2010.

Colin Fyfe, chief executive of the society, in the town said: “Our new head office is not only a wonderful place for our staff to work in and for ideas and great service to thrive, it’s also a statement of our commitment to Hinckley and our homelands.

“To be truly at the heart of our communities in Leicestershire and Warwickshire we need to be connected, visible and available through our head office, branches and agencies.

“Our heartfelt thanks go to all Hinckley and Rugby team members involved in planning and executing the head office move. And to all our colleagues, members and suppliers who have supported us in building a sound foundation for our ambitious future.”

The two training suites will enable the society to do even more in-house staff development.

All the interiors are lit using LED energy-saving technology, while furniture such as desks, chairs and tables were chosen with the help of six staff members.

The new head office address is Hinckley and Rugby Building Society, Upper Bond Street, Hinckley LE10 1NZ.

Phone numbers and online contacts are unchanged.
