SATURDAY’S Lychgate Fisheries Open match was won by Richard Leatherlan­d who recorded his first ever 100lb plus match catch. Drawn on peg 53 Richard used a method feeder to catch twenty carp to weigh 144lb 6ozs. Steve Brindley also broke the 100lb barrier, finishing second with 103lb 10ozs from peg 46. Third place went to Jon Courtney with a 64lb catch.

Andy Morton took the honours in Shackersto­ne’s Open match on sunday.

Fished along the Barton Road length Andy used worm to make an all “predator” catch, which included two nice perch around the 1lb mark plus a small zander to finish with 4lb 6ozs. Doug Dimbleby finished second with a 3lb 6oz catch of small roach and bream. Geoff Taylor also caught small roach and bream to finish third with 2lb 4ozs.

Lutterwort­h visited Phase Three at Makin’s Fishery where they fished the Avon and Severn Pools. Leading the way from Severn Pool was Darryl Moore from peg 6. Darryl enjoyed a bumper last hour, landing fourteen carp from the margins to finish with a winning 95lb 4oz catch.

Micky Davis came second, weighing 89lb 14ozs from Severn Peg 25. Top on Avon Pool and third over all was Ian Stripp with a 59lb 4oz catch from peg 9 while Mick Bassett finished fourth with a 58lb 13oz catch from Severn peg 14.

After a number of near misses over the years Rob Hollis recorded his first ever win at Lychgate Fisheries. Drawn on peg 49 Rob pole fished pellet to weigh 92lb 8ozs. Jonny Harvey finished a close second from peg 38 with a 91lb catch while Russ Gunbie came third with 72lb 12ozs.

Andy Stewart did the double in Mayne’s Lake’s mid week Open by wining the match from the lucky peg ! Andy landed 59lb 9ozs from Pool One’s peg 10. Darryl Moore won Pool Two with a 55lb 10oz catch from peg 39.

The first leg of the Annual Bert & Betty Andrews Memorial contest between Shackersto­ne and Ibstock was fished along the Monthills length of the canal. Despite being Shackeston­e’s “Home” water Ibstock took the honours weighing a team total of 21lb 13ozs to Shackersto­ne’s 16lb. Top individual was Ibstock’s Geoff Allsopp with a 5lb 3oz bream catch. Carl Povey came second with 4lb 7ozs while Jamie Horler finished third with 4lb 4ozs.

Higham lane’s Thursday Open was won by Andy Findley with a 65lb 11oz catch from peg 24. Dave Hurlston came second from peg 17 with a level 64lb while Steady Eddie Sharrad finished third with 56lb 6ozs.

Brookfield’s Open match at Stoke Golding was won by Clive Oliver with a 47lb 14ozs catch from peg 9. Micheal Morris came second with 38lb 14ozs with Stu Campton taking third place with 34lb 2ozs.

The final of Measham’s Wednesday evening series was fished by the leagues top twenty anglers along the Green lane section. All the top three included a decent bream in their other wise small fish catches, Veteran Ron Scales took the honours with a 3lb 7oz catch, Phil Hicks finished second with 2lb 3ozs while Phil Baker finished third with 2lb.

Higham Lane have an Open match every Thursday, draw 9am.

The second Round of the Pete Hogg Memorial series takes place this Saturday. Draw at 12.30pm at the Rising Sun.

Lychgate Fisheries have an Open match this Saturday, draw 9.15am. The Lake is closed on Sunday for the MAM Qualifier. Tickets are available
