VISITORS to Beacon Hill Country Park now have an added attraction to enjoy, as a new cafe has opened.

The eatery has been launched at the beauty spot, near Woodhouse Eaves, and we’ve been over to have a look inside.

Work started in February 2019 on a cafe that compliments the park’s natural surroundings and picturesque landscape.

The Leicestershire County Council-run cafe is aiming to become a plastic-free, zero waste hub for community events and recreational activities, such as cycling and hiking.

Situated at the lower end of the park, the cafe has an outdoor seating area and bike racks, and could make an ideal spot to relax with a coffee and cake after a walk up and down the rolling hills.

The new cafe serves a range of hot drinks, light bites, hot food and snacks.

Plus canine companions will be well catered for, with Marshfield Farm’s popular puppy favourite, Scoop’s Ice Cream.

Councillor Byron Rhodes, deputy leader of Leicestershire County Council, said: “Beacon Hill is one of our most popular parks and opening a cafe facility was a natural movement for growth and demand.

“It is vital for us to be seen to be listening to our communities and supporting them.

“Opening something new gives us the opportunity to do something differently and I am so pleased that we are helping to change the way people think by being eco-conscious.

“Our catering service is something we’re extremely proud of as a council and I’d encourage regular and first-time visitors to take advantage of this wonderful new facility in the park.”

The cafe is open 9am to 4pm daily.
