Defibrillator has been installed in Market Bosworth by Rotary Club
A new defibrillator has been installed in Market Bosworth.
The town’s Rotary Club raised funds to install the defibrillator outside St Peter’s Hall in Park Street.
The Rotary Club said its annual garden party may have raised enough money to install an additional defibrillator, which it will place in Market Bosworth Country Park.
The new piece of life-saving equipment means there are now six defibrillators in the town. As well as the new defibrillator at St Peter’s Hall, they can be found at Dixie Grammar School, the fire station, Ambion Vets, the tennis club and Market Bosworth Sports Club. Defibrillators are used to deliver a counter-shock to the heart during cardiac arrest.
Market Bosworth Rotary Club’s vice president Chris Kitson championed raising funds defibrillator.
He said: “The idea of the first defibrillator originally saw light of day at the Rotary District 1070 annual conference at Loughborough University in early 2018. It’s taken some time and we’ve had obstacles the idea of for the to overcome, such as finding the funds for the VAT, but the happy outcome is that defibrillator number one is now in place outside of St Peter’s Hall on Park Street, but we’re not content to leave it at that. As you see we’re hot on the trail of defibrillator number two!
“We very much wish to register our thanks to everyone who made the first defibrillator possible, in particular the parish council, St Peter’s church electrician who installed it at no cost, Nicci Ross of Teach The Community CPR and the First Responders”.
