It is about time the house delivered what the voters want

-

A letter writer referred to, in their words, popular newspapers hiding the truth about the real motivations of the Brexit ultras in the Tory Party.

Maybe they should think about the other popular newspapers that spout doom and gloom about a no-deal Brexit while praising Mr Corbyn and the remain camp, including Labour MPs in constituencies where the electorate voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU. In the letter they didn’t even have the decency to use so much as a “Mr” when writing about the Prime Minister and the MPs named.

As for the United States penetrating our markets, we have to go cap in hand to Europe and pay for the privilege to trade with any other country outside of the “all powerful” EU.

And as for cuts to public sector spending, this was due to, in my opinion, a Labour government overspending and definitely over-borrowing which a Tory government had the bravery to face, as distasteful as it has been.

As for a threat to our democracy, in 2016 we, the British electorate, voted to leave the European Union with a majority.

This result has been ignored totally by the Labour Party, the Liberal Democrats plus a handful of Tory MPs that the media made out to be a win for the remain camp.

If a union had a vote on whether to strike over pay and conditions, it would call a strike even if the vote was 1,000 in favour and 999 against. The referendum was voted for by 17 million-plus so it’s about time the whole House of Commons delivered what the British electorate are paying for.
