BRISTOL-BASED Aardman
Animation looks to the stars and the twinkling constellation of Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial for a second breathlessly paced stop-motion adventure in the company of mischievous sheep Shaun and his flock.
Shaun (Justin Fletcher) and his farmyard buddies clash with Bitzer the sheepdog (John Sparkes), who wants to restrict fun in the absence of Farmer John (Chris Morrell). While the master is lost in fanciful daydreams of purchasing a new combine harvester, Shaun and co drive Bitzer to the brink of barking madness by firing sheep out of a giant cannon.
Late one night, an alien spaceship descends on Mossingham and a cute creature called Lu-La (Amalia Vitale) finds its way – via a pizza delivery cyclist – to the farm. Shaun stumbles upon Lu-La in a barn and befriends the extra-terrestrial.
The plucky sheep vows to help the stricken extra-terrestrial return to her hidden spaceship and send a distress signal into outer space.
Unfortunately, Agent Red (Kate Harbour) and her team of operatives are on Lu-La’s trail and they intend to capture the alien.
A Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon is an entertaining sequel, which replicates the emotional heartbeats of Spielberg’s 1982 film, underscored with earthy humour and lively musical interludes.
PREVIEW: ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP (15)
TEN years after Ruben Fleischer’s debut feature, comedy horror Zombieland, won numerous awards, the director reunites cast and crew for a bloodthirsty sequel that mines dark humour in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse.
Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone) and her sister Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) have survived for more than a decade in a county overrun with the undead. Wichita and Little Rock decide to leave the group to forge a new path. Columbus is downhearted to be separated from Wichita until he meets blonde seductress Madison (Zoey Deutch).
An awkward reunion between Columbus and Wichita is interrupted by news that Little Rock has eloped with a pacifist called Berkeley (Avan Jogia).
Tallahassee, Columbus and Madison agree to accompany Wichita on a madcap road trip to Graceland to rescue her sibling.
En route, the group encounters Albuquerque (Luke Wilson) and his sidekick Flagstaff (Thomas Middleditch), as well as a superstrain of zombie, which is impervious to a bullet to the head.
