By election set to take place
A BY-ELECTION is to take place in the Cosby and Countesthorpe division after the death of a county councillor.
Following the death of Leicestershire County councillor David Jennings, the vote will take place for his replacement, coinciding with the General Election on December 12.
Mr Jennings was vice chairman of the council and passed away in August.
Graeme Wardle, the council’s head of Member Services, said: “The County Council makes decisions on local services and issues that affect us all.
“Whether it is school places, roads, transport, local health, social care or waste disposal, everyone in Leicestershire uses one of these services or may need them in the future.
“Often people miss out on the chance to vote by assuming they’re registered when they’re not we’d encourage people not to miss out and make sure they use their vote.”
More information, including the candidates standing in the election, will be made available on the county council’s website.
Residents who are not already registered to vote have until November 26 to apply on the Government website.
Blaby District Council will be running the election on behalf of the county council – to find out more about registering to vote, candidate nominations and registering for a postal or proxy vote, visit the Blaby council website.
Information including the candidates standing in the election, will also be made available on the county council’s website.
