Calendar eight years in the making
A PHOTOGRAPHER from Hinckley has created a photographic calendar of the town - just in time for Christmas.
Paul Hands, who runs the popular Hinckley Photographed page on Facebook, has created the calendar, which features photos of landscapes, street photography and events held in the town.
The calendar, which Paul describes as making “the ordinary seem extraordinary”, costs £10 and can be purchased from Hinckley Framers, based in The Borough, Hinckley Photo Centre, on Regent Street, and The Frame Game in Station Yard.
It features 13 high-quality rural and urban landscape photos, which have been curated from the thousands of pictures taken by Paul as part of the Hinckley Photographed project in the last eight years.
Paul, who changed his career from sales to photography in 2012, said: “I’ve spent the past eight years developing an archive of pictures around the Hinckley area, to help refine my skills and give something back to the community at the same time.
“I’ve had a few exhibitions with a collective of artists and organisations like Friends of Hollycroft Park and NWHC but didn’t really know what to do with my work other than share it online.
“Then, about two months ago, I was inspired by another professional photographer that I know, Justin Mimms, who won landscape photographer of the year a few years ago. He was producing some amazing calendars and I thought that surely I’ve got enough good quality photographs that could make up a calendar.
“In the calendar, there’s 13 high quality landscape photographs, both urban and rural, and all in and around Hinckley from the eight-year project.
“My style uses drama, humour and a slight romantic edge that is unique in creation. I make the ordinary seem extraordinary.”
