Furniture group extends lease on industrial estate
A FAMILY furniture group based in Hinckley has committed to staying in the town.
Hammonds has extended the lease on its site on the Harrowbrook Industrial Estate for a term of 125 years.
The land is owned by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and has been leased to the firm since the 1970s.
Hammonds was founded in Hinckley in 1926 and supplies fitted bedroom, kitchen and home office furniture to both the home improvement and new build markets.
It has 89 showrooms across the UK, and the purpose-built headquarters off Nutts Lane, Hinckley, makes more than 250 orders a day, distributed via 15 regional service centres.
The group has a showroom on Trinity Lane in the town.
Richard Hammonds, who is the CEO of Hammonds, said: “Naturally we are delighted to have the lease extension agreed.
“As a Hinckley born and bred, thirdgeneration business, this lease extension will ensure the company is able to confidently stay local, employing local people and designing fitted furniture for homes across the country.” A spokesperson for borough council said: “We are pleased to have been able to come to an agreement whereby Hammonds have been able to extend their lease, committing themselves to Hinckley and the local area.
“The company has ambitious plans for the future which can only be of benefit and a boost to the local economy.”
As a Hinckley born and bred third-generation business, this...will ensure the company is able to...stay local
